It’s mid-March now, and I think it may finally be trying to be spring. I have 1 tulip (one of those tiny red very-early-season ones), 7 daffodils, and a bunch of grape hyacinths. There are hundreds more buds for grape hyacinths, and many more tulips with buds. These flowers always make it difficult, though, because they always come up before I can water them, due to the fact that I don’t want to turn my outside water on yet. It is still freezing at night, and I don’t want my pipes to freeze.
The weather has been decent, if overcast. Today it’s clear. I will be putting my poor wind-damaged greenhouse together again soon, and repopulating it with cacti, other succulents, and some vegetables soon. That will be nice…getting the plants out of the house. They take up far too much room on their makeshift sawhorse tables. I have already put a few of the hardier cacti out in the greenhouse, despite the fact that it’s missing several panels. It hasn’t been going below 28° at night, so some of them can take it.
I am encouraged that warmer weather is on its way! Here are my current flowers:
Hi, readers!
I have just returned from my trip to Baja. Everything was fantastic – including (but not limited to) food, company, whales, marine life, camping, weather, sand and sun.
I got to see lots of plants in their natural habitats that I have only seen in pots or botanical gardens. That was exciting. I also got to go snorkeling with bunches of colorful fish and other animals (urchins, nudibranches, starfish, coral, etc.). I got to touch a whale. I only touched one, but he stayed there long enough for me to rub his head and scratch his skin. It was an amazing experience. I sea kayaked for the first time, and LOVED it. I saw lots of fancy shore and water birds, too. This whole trip was great!
Here are some photos from the trip. There will be a separate online album with MANY more pictures coming soon.
I will start with the facilities: our bathroom:
