Some of my plants have decided it’s spring. This is not so, but they seem to think it is. This is due to the fact that they have all been in one of my southwest-facing rooms, and they get nice warm sun all afternoon.
My baby mesquite trees looked like this last week (yes, those little sticks are mesquite trees):
Yesterday, they started pushing out some leaves, and today, they look like this:
One of my Gymnocalycium bruchii has also decided to give an early show. This is usually one of my first plants to bloom in the spring, but this year, it is particularly early:
It is nice that my plants have determined that it is spring. I wish the weather would follow suit.
I realize that one is supposed to formulate and put into effect one’s ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ at the very START of the new year, but hey – I am not the epitome of punctuality for anything else, either…and NO, I did not resolve to rectify that fault.
Dear Self and Others:
In 2009, I resolve to:
- Not cause any more overdraft fees or NSF (non-sufficient funds) fees in my checking account.
- Not get into any further debt, and to work hard toward paying down the existing debt.
- Ride my bicycle as much as possible (this includes commuting – which I already do – and more actual trail riding – which I do NOT do nearly as much as I should)
- Cook at home as much as possible, and try harder to always have food in the house.
- Try not to be so lax in my house cleaning – the dust balls really bother Rich. Not in an allergic way, like me, but he gets annoyed that I don’t dust as often as I should.
Realistically, this is about all I can really commit to and expect any of them to actually happen. These 5 things are true keys to a more enjoyable life at home.
What did YOU resolve for 2009?
