Hi, all.
I went up into the La Sal mountains (just south of Moab) with my dad on September 20 with the intention of finding dozens and dozens of delicious mushrooms. Usually, there are chanterelles, boletes, puffballs, and sometimes morels. This year, there wasn’t mushroom one. My dad spotted a few tiny mushrooms growing on a rotting log, but they looked perniciously poisonous. Otherwise, there was NOTHING even remotely fungus-like. We thought since it rained hard quite a bit last week, there would be mushrooms all over, but I guess it has been such a dry summer, that wasn’t possible.
I did manage to take some photos, so in the absence of mushrooms, I will post some of those for your enjoyment:
After that failed expedition, we went back to my parents’ house and played some cards. There were the usual birds outside, and I managed to take some decent pictures of a little black-chinned hummingbird.
In other news – I tried to update my ‘blog 2 days ago to the latest version of WordPress, and stupidly forgot to save the ‘uploads’ folder, so I lost ALL my ‘blog-formatted photos. I now have to go in and manually edit and replace every photo from the last 2 years of ‘blog entries. GRRRR. No one to blame but myself. So, if you are visiting a previous ‘blog entry here at Cactus Kate, and wonder why there are no photos…that’s why. I am replacing them as quickly as I can.
Enjoy your day.
